DECODIT’s Swiss pilot is taking place within the ‘Arena Innovation Community’ in the municipality of Capriasca, located in the Lugano district in Canton Ticino in the south of the country.

The Arena Innovation Community is one of the energy communities established and managed by the electricity supplier AEM (Azienda Elettrica di Massagno), in accordance with the ‘RCP’regulation (Raggruppamento ai fini del Consumo Proprio, Self-Consumption Group), as defined by Swiss legislation.
The aim of the pilot is to validate the DECODIT digital solution in the Swiss context, with a particular focus on the energy and efficiency aspects.
So far, the pilot has completed the review of the assets required for data sharing to support the developments of the technical partners responsible for the DECODIT platform.
In addition, the first engagement activities have been launched.
A key aspect of the activities to date has been a review and upgrading of the sensor network and some specific installation situations, involving communication or sensor issues, required time to be resolved.

As a primarily technical pilot, focused on data exchange and consumption analysis, the main lesson learned to date is the importance of monitoring the network of sensors and meters that enable proper data exchange.
Preparing the ground ahead, the pilot leaders are in a phase of strong coordination with the technical partners, first and foremost to ensure the establishment of proper communication between the local servers and the DECODIT tools through the structuring of dedicated communication APIs.
In addition, there is active involvement in engagement activities, including the delivery of the first questionnaire to residents to assess their knowledge in the energy field.
The information for this update was provided by Stefano Mauri, project manager at AEM and coordinator and contact person for the activities within the pilot. He has a background in energy related topics, particularly in the development of electric mobility services.
