Four Horizon Europe projects have joined forces to form the new E-NERGY cluster.
The projects – DECODIT, DIGITISE, ENERGENIUS, and EU-DREAM – share a common goal: leveraging digital technologies to enhance consumer participation in the energy transition.
By working together, they seek to democratise access to energy information and make the transition process more accessible and engaging for all.
The name “E-NERGY” merges the concepts of “energy” and “e-mails,” and just as e-mails made the exchange of information seamless, and accessible, E-NERGY cluster aims to democratise access to energy information, making it easy and quick, and leading the sector into a new digital era.
With its participation in BRIDGE, DECODIT joins almost 200 other projects funded by Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe over the past decade, to share knowledge and baselining of activities and gain support for the uptake of its innovations.
BRIDGE plays a key role in ensuring that project outcomes and findings have longevity outside the project.
Through its four working groups on data management, business models, regulations and consumer and citizen engagement, collaboration and knowledge sharing is fostered through analysis and reports with recommendations for policy development, which are then submitted for action to the European Commission.
With technologies for consumers currently making up just 14% of the BRIDGE projects, DECODIT with its focus on the development of digital citizen decision making support services and a strategy for their uptake, has a particularly important role to play in shaping the energy transition of European homes.
DECODIT has joined the Smart Energy Cluster project collaboration to accelerate the deployment of innovative smart energy solutions.
Comprised currently of a total of 31 ongoing projects – as well as 16 past projects – and still growing, the Smart Energy Cluster was established as a collaborative effort to bring together expertise and resources to create a common ground for energy business development.
With the multiple projects focussed on different energy services, it is all too easy for innovation to take place in siloes and the Smart Energy Cluster is aimed to overcome this market fragmentation and foster cooperation.
The Smart Energy Cluster has three primary goals – to communicate projects’ activities and successes, to amplify the impact of projects’ offerings and to achieve faster payback periods for sustainable energy investments.
In addition to DECODIT, other members are Audit2Measure, BlueBird, BuildON, BungEES, CreteValey, DATAWiSE, Dedalus, DEESME, Digibuild, DR-RISE, ENERGATE, EnerTEF, ENPOWER, EUMORE, Fortesie, GINNGER, HEDGE-IoT, Hycool-IT, i-STENTORE, InEExS, INHERIT, META BUILD, Moderate, PROBONO, ReLIFE, REN + HOMES, Reschool, Resonance, SMARTeeSTORY and WeForming.
As a member, Stratis Kanarachos participated and gave a presentation on DECODIT at the Smart Energy Cluster 3rd Collaboration Workshop on 16 April 2025
