Following a proposal at the last assembly to hold future events at the pilot sites and at the invitation of the leaders of the Spanish pilot – Antonio Soler, Vice President of the La Solar Energía energy coop and Gonzalo Páez, R&D Project Manager at Voltiva Energy – the first of these is to take place in Murcia at the Parque Cientifico de Murcia in southeast Spain on 12-13 May.

The Murcia pilot, an extension of the earlier ACCEPT project, has two strands, one on testing different solutions to operationalise and monetise flexibility in a set of households of different types and the second on testing services for saving energy and performing green retrofitting.
WIth the opportunity to visit the pilot site, participants should be able to get a hands on perspective of the working environment of the pilot.
The assembly begins with a project overview, with the first day focussed primarily on the ‘high level’ activities – the outreach and exploitation, participatory design and co-creation, digital tools and technology enablers.
A highlight is a prototype presentation of the digital tools and DECODIT app, which is at the heart of the project. With its ‘all in one’ approach, providing the four key areas of the project, i.e. ‘understanding’, ‘optimising’, ‘automating’ and ‘financing’ and for use in the different conditions of the pilot countries, it is obviously complex and with inbuilt AI it is awaited with interest.
For further insights, see the interview with Panos Tsarchopoulos, who is spearheading the development of the app.
The second day is devoted to updates and developments at the four pilot sites and will be followed with a round table discussion and wrap up as the project moves ahead.
DECODIT is now 24 months and a little over half way into the project and the second half promises to be as busy, if not more so, than the first half with the outcomes of the work so far being put into practice in the field.
